Beautiful set of two vintage Strehla Keramik vases – East Germany (GDR) 1960s-1970s
For sale: a beautiful matching pair of Strehla Keramik vases from the GDR period.
Large vase: rectangular model, height 23 cm
Small vase: elegant tapered shape with bulbous base, height 18 cm
Both vases feature the same distinctive glaze in warm earth tones: white/cream with brown and orange-brown bands and a striking orange-red top. This gives them a beautiful mid-century look that perfectly complements the popular fat lava style.
Authentic marks on the base:
Large vase: stamped “Strehla Keramin” with house logo and “Made in GDR”
Small vase: impressed model number 7406 with the classic Strehla symbol
The vases are in excellent condition: no chips, cracks, or damage. The glaze is beautiful and glossy, with that typical natural variation of hand-applied glazes.
This set comes from the collection of Strehla (VEB Steingutfabrik Strehla) in Saxony, a beloved East German ceramics brand among lovers of retro and mid-century design.
