A little piece of England, of the kind that immediately evokes country tables, traditional cheese shops, and that very British passion for beautiful containers that are kept long after their contents have been enjoyed. This cream ceramic pot was made by London Pottery for Long Clawson Dairy, a historic Leicestershire establishment renowned for its Blue Stilton, one of Britain's great traditional cheeses. Founded in 1911 in the village of Long Clawson, the dairy has perpetuated the making of Stilton for over a century in the heart of the Vale of Belvoir. The pot's blue decoration recalls this history. The dairy's emblem, a mention of Blue Stilton and its protected designation of origin, is accompanied on the reverse by a small text dedicated to its traditional production. Its generous shape, cream-coloured enamel, and blue typography give it the particular charm of British advertising items that have, over time, become endearing testaments to English gastronomic culture. It will naturally find a second life in a kitchen. Utensil holder, small vase, plant pot cover, storage, or simply a decorative item among a collection of earthenware and British kitchenalia.
