Its sleek, minimalist design makes it a versatile addition to any space. The lamp's designer is Sigheaki Asahara, born in Tokyo. Sigheaki Asahara was born in Tokyo in 1948 and studied sculpture in Turin. After returning to Japan in 1972, he focused on product design and became an independent designer. In 1975, he returned to Italy. He joined the architectural firm ABACO, where famous names such as Toyo Ito, Tadao Ando, and Mario Botta also worked. In 1979, he returned to freelance design and became one of the leading designers for the legendary Stilnovo brand. To this day, he remains one of the most important designers of Lucitalia lighting. In 1980 he designed for Stilnovo the Bascula (balance sheet), a special lamp that betrays unmistakable hand of the Japanese master.
