Product description
An Italian wall mirror from the 1970s characterised by a geometric composition of overlapping elements, entirely based on the interplay of depth and reflected surfaces. Its square form with rounded corners is softened by broad bevelled edges, transforming an otherwise essential design into a more sculptural and three-dimensional presence. The mirror is composed of a large outer mirrored element forming the frame, with a second, smaller square mirror positioned at its centre. The two elements are slightly spaced apart, creating different visual planes, while the bevelled edges capture the light and produce changing reflections and tonal variations. The absence of a conventional frame allows the glass itself, together with its thickness and layered construction, to define the design of the object. Viewed from the side, the separation between the two planes becomes particularly evident, giving the mirror greater visual depth. The combination of rigorous geometry, rounded corners and overlapping mirrored surfaces is representative of the decorative experimentation of the 1970s, when even a functional object such as a mirror was conceived as a distinctive furnishing element.
