Origin and design history
The Sputnik design originates from the Space Age design movement, which emerged in the late 1950s under the influence of space travel.
After the launch of the Soviet satellite Sputnik 1 in 1957, star-shaped lighting fixtures became particularly popular. These futuristic designs grew into icons of Mid-Century Modern design.
