This object by Adolphe Lechtenberg (1952) is an experimental spatial collage in which two-dimensional and three-dimensional elements enter into an exciting dialog. Mounted in a transparent Plexiglas housing, the composition unfolds like a small stage of abstract forms. Color surfaces in deep blue, wine red and orange meet graphically processed, partly curved surfaces in white and grey. Some of the elements are free-standing, others are mounted on the background, creating a spatial depth effect that varies depending on the viewing angle.
Lechtenberg's work combines painting, collage and object art to create a dynamic pictorial structure that oscillates between constructivism and abstraction. The visible traces of use on the paper (such as creases and slight abrasions) lend the work a tangible materiality and document its historical context of origin.
An exceptional collector's item for lovers of concrete and abstract art of post-war modernism.
