This striking vintage three-light pendant lamp is a wonderful example of the bold, sculptural lighting associated with the 1970s and Space Age / Mid-Century interiors.
The pendant features three organically shaped shades made from translucent orange Lucite, constructed in the distinctive textured “Spaghetti” style. The shredded or layered Lucite creates a richly textured surface and gives the shades a beautiful warm, diffused glow when illuminated.
Each shade is suspended from a black plastic cylindrical fitting decorated with narrow vertical gold stripes. The black and gold details provide an elegant graphic contrast to the vivid orange Lucite.
At the top, the three pendants are arranged from a sculptural wooden ceiling fixture, consisting of a rounded central canopy with three projecting wooden arms. The warm wood adds an interesting natural element to the otherwise distinctly Space Age combination of Lucite, plastic and gold.
The result is a highly decorative statement light with a wonderfully retro character—particularly suited to Mid-Century Modern, 1970s, Space Age, eclectic or vintage interiors.
It would work beautifully above a dining table, kitchen table, breakfast area or as a statement feature in a living room.
