Product description
Ettore Sottsass & Perry King - Olivetti 'Valentine' - Typewriter - 1960-1970 The 'playful' Olivetti Valentine was immediately hailed as a 'Pop Art & Design Icon' in 1969 and hardly needs any introduction. The Valentine offered here is an early model, which can be seen in a number of details such as the absence of the two 'bumps' on the top that appeared in later versions. (These served to better protect the machine from scratches when sliding it into the protective cover). The rubber dampers on the inside and the attachment of the closing rubbers to the case have also changed slightly in different Valentine versions. According to designers Sottsass & King, the typewriter had outgrown the office and should now be able to be taken everywhere: 'A light machine that can be transported in its own case'. A laptop avant-la-lettre, then! In addition to many important awards, the Valentine is included in numerous leading museums with a collection of applied art and is now considered one of the defining creations of 20th-century design, thus also becoming a cult object. Production: Olivetti S.p.A. Italy (Olivetti plant Barcelona) 1969 Technical condition: original version, complete, inspected, tested and working. Cosmetic condition: very good condition (with some normal light signs of use) Keyboard: qwerty Material: metal & plastic Dimensions: 35 x 34.5 x 11.5 cm Serial number: 6845884 The Olivetti Valentine: symbol of creativity, style and functionality!
