Product description
Solid mahogany tripod side table. Three legs, zero compromises. Danish style, presumably 1960s. Built like a machine. Designed like a thought. This is not a side table. This is a tripod statement. 🪵 The top: ⌀ 50 cm, solid mahogany (sapele), glued from multiple strips of solid wood. Super flat and smooth, with a beautiful patina. The bevelled edge gives the top allure and a strikingly light character. No veneer. No MDF. No excuses. 🔩 The legs: three tapered legs in solid mahogany, with two flat sides. Each leg is set in a recess in the block and secured with two heavy Allen bolts, screwed into threaded metal cylinders. Sleek, detachable and always stable. ⬡ The heart: a beautifully crafted, hexagonal block in solid mahogany, multi-layered to prevent warping and movement, and attached to the top with six sturdy wood screws. This is where everything comes together. ✦ The style: honest construction, visible craftsmanship, a silhouette that the Danish furniture-making tradition would be proud of. SPECIFICATIONS 📏 ⌀ 50 cm · H 45.5 cm 🪵 Solid mahogany (sapele) tripod side table 🔍 Unmarked, maker unknown CONDITION ⚙️ Mechanical: as new, 10/10 ✦ Top: excellent. No stains, discolouration or cracks. Only minimal signs of use: very superficial scratches and tiny dents. 9/10 ✦ Legs: perfect condition, no damage, original. 10/10 A table that needs no explanation. Just to be placed. REASONING FOR DETERMINATION Conclusion: Style and execution match the Danish furniture-making tradition (Klint school). Maker unknown, unmarked. Danish origin is probable, but not confirmed. Characteristics pointing to Denmark: 1. 🪵 Solid mahogany (sapele): the classic wood of Danish furniture makers, especially until approx. 1960. 2. ✦ Bevelled top: the chamfer makes the top appear thinner and lighter, a characteristic Scandinavian detail. 3. ✦ Tapered legs with two flat sides: slender and shaped, according to the Danish functional design language. 4. 🔩 Construction as design: legs set in recesses in the block, secured with two heavy Allen bolts in threaded metal cylinders. The connection is visible and honestly made. 5. 🪵 One type of wood throughout the entire piece of furniture: block, top and legs from the same solid wood, a consistent choice of material. 6. ⬡ Multi-layered block: constructed to limit movement and warping, a sign of technically well-thought-out construction. 7. 🔩 Separate assembly: block with six wood screws to the top, legs with Allen bolts to the block. Fully detachable and repairable. 8. ✦ Super flat, smooth and solid glued top: made from strips of solid mahogany, without veneer or sheet material. 9. ✦ Beautiful patina on the top: a natural warmth and depth that belongs to solid mahogany and develops over the years. 10. ✦ Execution and condition: precise recesses and seams, mechanically as new. - Parcel shipping (where the three legs are disassembled. These are very easy to reattach by screwing them back on with 3x2 original bolts)
