__ The Smoothy armchair by Gealux is a striking example of Dutch Design. The sleek shell rests on a slender, round metal base plate, creating a beautiful contrast between elegance and strength. The design consists of clear, rectangular forms: the backrest, seat, and armrests are sleek and angular, giving the armchair a modern, almost architectural appearance. The armrests are subtly connected to the backrest and extend at the front into a vertical support that is separate from the seat. This creates an open ‘window’ on the side, making the design surprisingly airy. The armchair is upholstered in high-quality black Polo leather. The black stitching is deliberately kept tone-on-tone and is barely noticeable, allowing the design to come fully into its own. Despite the robust lines, the Smoothy armchair never appears heavy in the room.
