Product description
This small antique trunk in pine wood is a dome-lidded casket with iron straps, of reduced format. It originates from Central Europe, from the early twentieth century, within rustic storage furniture. Trunks and chests kept clothing, trousseau and household goods in the home, and also accompanied moves. Their hinged lid and robust body answered to everyday, lasting use. The body is solid pine, with a domed lid braced by iron straps and an iron catch. The joinery is traditional and the construction is firm despite its contained size. The patina is warm and worn, with the pine grain on view. The surface reads authentic, with no restoration to mask it. For its format, it serves as a chest at the foot of the bed, a low table or a storage piece. It fits rustic, country and wabi-sabi interiors, where it brings warmth and an honest presence.
