Surrealist sculptures of wrought iron. This is Slip of the Tongue. The spoken word goes its own way. The minimalist, unique figure was created between hammer, fire, and anvil. Forging is a form of modeling. The materials and technique the artist employs become fully absorbed in the result. All sculptures possess a high tactile appeal, yet are layered in such a way that the viewer almost immediately begins searching for the message and the relationship they have with it.... The sculpture received a coating that gives the object a beautiful shine and a black-brown color, accentuating the hammer marks. Unique signed work from 2024. JLB received a musical education at the Ghent Conservatory, after which he built a career as a horn player, conductor, composer, and teacher. At the same time, as a self-taught artist, his interest lay in artisanal wrought ironwork, initially to restore or manufacture all kinds of ironwork in the old way. Later, he discovered the possibilities of creating sculptures. After a meeting and short internship with Martin Granel, he discovered the combination of glass and iron. JLB exhibits regularly at the Garemyn Hall in Bruges. His work was also on display at the Vlask Gallery in Ghent. Dimensions: 25x16x13 cm
