Product description
Estimated value: €1,500 – €2,100. A powerful and authentic Chinese bronze Buddha statue from the Qing period (19th century), depicted in a seated posture with the right hand in Vitarka mudra (teaching gesture). The statue exudes peace and simplicity, with a serene facial expression and a classic, timeless design characteristic of late imperial Chinese work. The statue was traditionally cast using the lost-wax technique and has a fully closed base. Inside, original core remnants are present, indicating a pre-industrial production method. The inner wall shows natural oxidation and mineral formation, further supporting its age and authenticity. Clear signs of wear and use are visible on the surface, including fine micro-corrosion and remnants of original fire gilding in protected areas. This gilding has largely disappeared over time but remains visible in deeper parts of the robe and structure. On the head, there is an old lacquer/wax marking with visible stamp impressions. The impression is partly deformed, so the characters are not fully legible, but it is a historically applied marking possibly related to transport, trade, or later processing. An honest and technically substantiated example of an authentic Chinese Buddha statue, with clear traces of age, use, and traditional craftsmanship.
