Product description
This Dora rock lamp was designed by French creator André Cazenave and produced in Italy by Singleton during the 1960s, representing the Organic Modern and Mid-Century Modern movements. The sculptural shell is formed from fiberglass and polyester resin coated with a granulated layer of natural stone and marble powder. When unlit, the matte, textured surface replicates the irregular grain and neutral sand-gray tone of a natural boulder. Once illuminated, the translucent body filters light through the mineral coating, casting a warm ambient glow with subtle tonal gradations across its recessed planes and curved ridges.
Conceived with an asymmetric, organic profile resting on a flat base, the Dora model is one of the compact formats within Cazenave's series of stone-shaped lamps. With a height of 16 cm and a footprint of 35 by 30 cm, its low proportions suit placement directly on the floor—either individually or within a multi-piece composition—as well as on a sideboard, console table, or low shelving unit in a living room, bedroom, or hospitality project. Original 1960s examples produced by Singleton are sought after by collectors of twentieth-century European lighting and interior designers looking for sculptural ambient pieces from the period.
