Plating is a process in which thin layers of a more precious metal, usually silver or gold, are applied to a less noble metal. This is a method known and used for centuries to decorate and refine all utility items, giving them corrosion-preventing, surface hardening, and bactericidal properties. Such a finish ensures increased durability, shine, and timelessness of the item.
