Product description
• Vintage Italian Silver Ink Blotter / Ink Roller – 925 Sterling Silver – Argenteria Recanatese • Classic Silver Ink Blotter (Ink Roller) – Chiseled Sterling Silver (925) Description: For sale: a beautiful, elegantly designed vintage Italian ink blotter with a richly decorated silver top. A beautiful and functional ornament for a classic desk or for collectors of antique writing instruments and silver. The top features refined, baroque-style relief work with floral motifs and scrolls and has a sturdy silver handle. The underside has the authentic semi-circular wooden rocker shape around which blotting paper can be clamped to blot excess ink from letters. Official Italian Hallmarks: The silverwork is fully and clearly hallmarked on the edge: • 925: First grade sterling silver. • ★ 134 AN: The official master's mark of the renowned Italian silversmith workshop Argenteria Recanatese (Ancona region). • R-stamp (Riempito): The official Italian hallmark indicating that the inside of the silver cap is filled with resin/plaster for reinforcement, which provides a nice, sturdy weight in the hand. Condition: The object is in beautiful vintage condition with a wonderful patina. The silverwork is intact and the details are still very sharply visible. See the photos for an exact impression of the hallmarks and details.
