Exceptional vintage decorative bowl or wall plate made of copper with polychrome enamel, inscribed by hand on the reverse:
„The Edwards Star Originals for Gump’s San Francisco“
The piece features a striking, radially structured decor in copper orange, brown, cream white, mint green, and turquoise. Particularly striking are the partly heavily structured and relief-like fused enamel parts, as well as the organically abstract center.
Aesthetically, the object can be very well assigned to American Mid-Century Modern or California Studio Craft. The execution combines geometric order with an expressive, handcrafted enamel technique.
Gump’s San Francisco was a traditional American house for high-quality art, design, and Decorative Objects. The original inscribed marking on the reverse therefore makes the piece particularly interesting for collectors.

On the reverse side is the hand-engraved inscription „The Edwards Star Originals for Gump’s San Francisco“. The engraving is somewhat faint in places due to age, but still recognizable and documented in the photos.
Condition:
Beautiful vintage condition appropriate for its age. The decorated front side presents itself very appealing overall. On the copper reverse side there are age-related discolorations, oxidation and signs of wear, as well as remnants of a previous attachment or hanging. Please refer to the photos as part of the condition description.
