Description.
This side table shows a beautiful patina. Where the attachment of the top and legs was finished, you can see the traces of the technique used in the top which creates a layering of time. The sturdy legs and fine top create an interesting dynamic.
This little table exudes simplicity and modesty. The sun casts a soft glow over the wood, bringing out the natural grain beautifully. The design is functional and uncomplicated, with straight lines and sturdy legs that characterize Brutalism. However, the patina on the surface gives it a veil of fragility over stories of everyday moments-maybe a book laid down, a newspaper flipped open on an article headlined, "Sunny Saturdays: All Belgium biking to the beach" or a cup of coffee warming the tabletop. This piece has found a place in the room where it does not stand out, but where it proves its usefulness and conveys its history.
Because of the simplicity and warmth of the wood, this object fits into even the most modernist homes. Stories and nostalgia are forever contained in its grain.
