Product description
The wood speaks volumes even before it's opened. This tea box is carved from sheesham, an Indian rosewood with a tight grain and very decorative wavy figuring. The golden honey hue of the lid contrasts with the darker brown sides. A brass inlay depicting a bird in flight adorns the lid and the front. The hinge and the fastening knob are made of gilded brass. The interior reveals 8 equal compartments in two rows of four, made of untreated raw wood, with thin partitions assembled with grooves. Length 28 cm, width 16 cm, height 9 cm. Very good condition, well-preserved sheesham, light signs of wear on the corners. Craftsmanship from Saharanpur, India, 1970s-1990s. Placed on a sideboard or serving trolley, this box elegantly stores tea bags. It can also hold jewelry, cards, or small precious items in a warm and well-traveled interior.
