About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
Offered is a set of four chairs, designed by the influential Italian designer Joe Colombo for the manufacturer Kartell. This model, known as the 'Universale' or model 4867, is a historically important design from the 1960s and represents a milestone in the production of furniture from a single plastic mold.
These chairs are made of durable plastic and executed in a white color scheme. The design is not only aesthetically characteristic of the Space Age era but also highly functional; the chairs are stackable, making them practical for various spaces. The characteristic cutout in the backrest serves as a handle, a detail that underlines the thoughtful functionality of Colombo's work. Production took place in Italy, the epicenter of modern design during that period.
The set is in a condition consistent with its age and use over the years. The chairs have developed an authentic patina, which contributes to their vintage character. Despite visible signs of wear, the chairs have fully retained their structural integrity and iconic form.
These versatile chairs are an excellent addition to a dining area, office, or as an accent in a living space. They seamlessly fit into interiors with a preference for Mid-Century Modern, Italian design, or an eclectic style, where they add both a functional and a sculptural element.
