Product description
Beautiful set of four vintage dining chairs, also known as model 'Snavel', designed by Louis van Teeffelen and produced by AwA Meubelfabriek in the 1960s (marked). This set comes from Rotterdam and has remained in the same household since purchase. The chairs have been carefully restored. The solid teak frames have been completely cleaned and refinished, with attention to preserving the natural patina. The seats have also been rebuilt with sturdy foam and upholstered with high-quality black leather. A classic combination that beautifully complements the warm color of the teak. Characteristic of this model is the simple yet beautifully shaped frame. At the front, the ends taper forward and protrude just below the seat, resembling a bird's beak. This is how the design earned its nickname 'Snavel'. The slender legs and organic lines give the chairs an elegant appearance and ensure that, despite their sturdy construction, they look remarkably light. A nice detail are the small brass decorative spheres on either side of the backrest. They only really stand out up close but give the design that extra touch of refinement. The way the back is attached to the frame makes it appear almost to float freely. The wide, slightly curved back also provides comfortable support. In short: a strong set of Dutch design dining chairs in which Van Teeffelen's distinctive hand is clearly visible, carefully restored and ready for many more years of use.
