Exceptional set of chest of drawers in very good condition.
Designed and manufactured by Mobil Girgi in Italy in 1970s
Crafted from richly grained walnut veneer and solid walnut components in varying tones, these chests showcases a captivating layered effect that adds depth and visual interest.
Their geometric aesthetic is further enhanced by the striped panels that define its surface, giving the piece a bold, architectural look.
Featuring three spacious drawers, the chests offer ample storage while maintaining a sleek profile.
The oval-shaped handles are made from bronze and are recessed in the drawers, making it a unique and eye-catching piece.
Mobilgirgi was an Italian furniture manufacturer founded in the 1960s in Cantù, Italy, a region known for high-quality furniture production. The company became known for modern, stylish home furnishings reflecting Italian modernist design of the 1960s–1970s.
Mobilgirgi collaborated with designers such as Mario Marenco, whose Sapporo seating series became one of the brand’s best-known designs. The company also gained visibility when it sponsored the basketball team Pallacanestro Varese during the 1970s.
The company operated for several decades before closing in 2004. Today, Mobilgirgi furniture is considered collectible vintage Italian design.
