Beautiful set of four vintage dining chairs, produced in the Netherlands in the 1960s. The chairs come from the original owners in Egmond aan Zee, who bought the set at the time along with a matching 'Milaan' dining table by Louis van Teeffelen for Wébé. The designer and manufacturer of the chairs are not known with certainty. Similar models are regularly attributed to Louis van Teeffelen, but as far as is known, there is no strong evidence for this. They may have been produced by a Dutch manufacturer such as AwA. What is striking in any case is the quality of the construction and the meticulous finish. The chairs have been carefully restored while retaining their characteristic patina. The teak wood has been thoroughly cleaned, nourished, and re-finished, bringing out its warm, deep color beautifully again. Both the seats and the backrests have new foam and have been re-upholstered in a rich green bouclé, which contrasts nicely with the dark wood. Thanks to the generous backrest and the new construction, the chairs are also exceptionally comfortable again. The design is understated, but when you look closer, there is a lot of refinement. The wide side rails flow smoothly upwards towards the back and, together with the slightly angled legs, form a strong and recognizable silhouette. The wide, slightly curved backrests fit nicely with the side frames, with beautifully rounded transitions between the different wooden parts. The whole feels sturdy, yet looks elegant. Beautiful Dutch craftsmanship from the 1960s, which, thanks to the restoration, is ready for years of use again. Due to their timeless design, the set fits effortlessly into both vintage and modern interiors.
