A fantastic set of four vintage dining chairs from the Swedish furniture manufacturer Karl Andersson & Söner, produced in the 1960s. The design is strongly reminiscent of the work of Børge Mogensen, although it was probably not designed by him. Mogensen or not, it's still a really cool design.
We picked up this set in Rotterdam from a young couple who were sadly parting with it due to a growing family. They, in turn, had bought the chairs from an older couple in The Hague. It's always fun to realize how many miles these chairs have traveled in their lives and how many interiors they've seen.
To extend that lifespan a little further, we've fully and carefully restored them. A nice little bridge, isn't it? Thanks to this restoration, they are now in excellent condition and, above all, ready for immediate use. The teak frames have regained their characteristic warm color and have been finished with a subtle satin sheen. A nice detail is that the backrests are slightly lighter in color, creating a beautiful contrast. They still show a few signs of their former life here and there.
The seats have been completely refurbished. They feature new webbing, new foam, and fresh upholstery, all ensuring exceptional comfort. Perfect for long dinners and evenings that gradually become more cozy. The fabric is a robust green-beige mix that creates a checkered effect up close. Combined with the dark frames, this gives the whole a slightly airier and contemporary look.
What makes the design even more appealing is its playful character. The round legs, the characteristic black feet, and the visible contrasting joint in the backrest give the chairs plenty of personality. At the same time, they remain remarkably elegant; it's precisely this combination that makes this a beautiful example of Scandinavian mid-century design. You'll fall in love with it!
