Product description
2 Brutalist, Mid-Century Modern Bowls, Atelier Collini Austria
• 2x solid brass Brutalist Bowls, large and small in different stylistic forms.
• Manufacturer / Atelier: Collini Austria. The stylized loop- or arch-shaped mark on the back (part of the initials or the smith's logo) is the characteristic stamp used by this Austrian metal workshop.
• Style: Brutalist / Mid-Century Modern with traditional repoussé influences. Although the large Bowl with its braided pattern and beaded rim is inspired by historical designs (such as historical alms Bowls), the heavy, hand-hammered execution in solid brass fits perfectly within the revival of Brutalist ornamental metals in the twentieth century.
The small Bowl has a double ring in the raised rim and has more of a robust “character”. Both Bowls feature the same brand mark. (Collini).
• Period: Approx. 1950 – 1970 (Mid-Century).
• Dimensions: Large Bowl 29/30 cm and height 3.5 cm, Weight: 1010 grams
Small Bowl 15.5 cm and height 3.5 cm, Weight: 440 grams
• Both Bowls have a beautiful authentic dark patina.
• Both Bowls show no clear and/or heavy damage. Naturally, the dark patina is a result of age, which the connoisseur/collector knows how to appreciate.
• Photos provide a clear picture of the condition of both Bowls and are part of the description.
