Product description
These chairs are characteristic of Jean Batenburg's architectural design style, combining a sleek geometric wooden structure with understated upholstered elements. The dark stained frames are constructed with continuous rectangular legs and low crossbars, giving the chairs a robust, grounded appearance. The seats and backrests are upholstered in a grey, structured fabric, which softens the clean linearity of the design. Particularly striking is the backrest, where the upholstery is framed by visible wooden corner blocks, adding a subtle decorative accent to the otherwise sober composition. The overall design is calm, functional and balanced, with a modernist character typical of Belgian furniture from that period. These chairs are part of the same dining room series as the Jean Batenburg dining table, produced by MI, Belgium.DxHxW: 53x83x49 cmSeat height: 45 cmThe wooden frames show visible signs of age, particularly along the edges and corners, where the lighter wood has become visible under the dark finish. The upholstery shows some signs of use consistent with its age.
