Beautiful set of four vintage ‘SA10’ dining chairs, designed by Cees Braakman and produced by Pastoe in the 1950s. This set comes from the granddaughter of the first owners, who purchased the chairs new at the time with a matching dining table. After having a permanent place in the dining room for many years, the chairs later moved to an office, where they served for many more years. The chairs have been fully restored with respect for the original design and the characteristic patina. The solid teak frames have been thoroughly cleaned and refinished, restoring the wood's deep, warm appearance. Furthermore, all four chairs are in excellent structural condition. The seats have also been completely renewed. The old webbing and padding have been replaced with new webbing and high-quality foam. The seats have subsequently been reupholstered with a fresh, yellow wool fabric that beautifully complements the era in which the chairs were designed and closely matches the original upholstery. The warm teak wood forms a beautiful contrast with the vibrant yellow fabric, which, thanks to subtle color nuances, has a fresh and playful look. The minimalist frames are characteristic of Braakman's early work and clearly reveal the influence of Scandinavian aesthetics. Sleek, organic, and perfectly proportioned, without a single superfluous detail. In addition to their refined design, the SA10 chairs are above all exceptionally comfortable. The generous seat and slightly curved backrest offer just the right support, making them just as suitable for a quick cup of coffee in the morning as for long evenings at the dining table. A beautiful, fully restored set that effortlessly demonstrates why Cees Braakman belongs among the greatest Dutch furniture designers.
