A beautiful set of four vintage dining chairs, probably produced in the 1960s by Wébé. Unfortunately, they're unmarked, so we can't say for sure. However, the construction and the wood are very similar to other chairs produced by Wébé.
Anyway, we picked up this set of chairs in Eindhoven, and upon arrival at our workshop, they were in dire need of TLC. The foam had rotted, the fabric worn, and the wood in poor condition. The nightmare trio of many vintage dealers, but not ours!
The chairs have been completely and carefully restored. The old foam has been replaced with new, and the seats have been reupholstered in a dark green wool fabric, which beautifully complements the warm teak. The whole thing doesn't look heavy, but rather elegant and flowing. The new foam and the wide seat also make them wonderfully comfortable!
The frames have been thoroughly cleaned and refinished, restoring the wood's deep color and beautiful grain. The design is organically shaped, but also quite angular. A prime example of Danish aesthetics translated by Dutch designers.
One of our favorite details: the narrow brass decorative balls that separate the backrest from the frame. A small touch, but it gives the chairs just that little bit of extra charm. Truly a feast for the eyes and absolute mid-century gems ready for years of use.
