An original set of four Mid-Century dining chairs, model 515, produced in 1959 by TON Furniture in one of the company’s former Thonet factories in what was then Czechoslovakia. The design is widely attributed to the Austrian architect and designer Oswald Haerdtl.
Oswald Haerdtl (1899–1959) is regarded as one of the most influential Austrian architects and designers of the twentieth century. A student of Josef Hoffmann and a key figure of Viennese modernism, Haerdtl possessed a remarkable ability to combine restraint with expression, something beautifully evident in these chairs.
