◼ HISTORY & DESIGN
Four white shells resting on a polished steel crescent. No back legs, no braces, no base: a simple flat blade undulates on the floor and rises to support the cantilevered seat. Seen in profile, the chair is reduced to a single line.
The Scimitar model takes its name from the curved cavalry saber, and its base explains why. This same curve is found in negative in the shell, creating a void between the armrest and the seat. A single gesture, declined twice: in solid, then in hollow.
This model is attributed to Boris Tabacoff (1927-1985), a Paris-based designer, produced by Mobilier Modulaire Moderne in the early 1970s.

◼ CONDITION REPORT (Gallery Transparency)
Four matching examples, homogeneous in tone and patina — for this model, finding a complete set is a true rarity. The cantilever effect gives the seat a slight flexibility: this is the normal functioning of the structure, not a defect.
The set is in very good vintage condition. The skai upholstery has retained a beautiful bright white color, while showing a natural patina related to age. In the interest of full transparency, we note the presence of a very slight hole on the backrest of one of the four chairs. The steel blades show inevitable micro-scratches from use and some slight pitting in places due to age, but the chrome generally remains in superb condition and very shiny. A robust, authentic set ready to be installed.
