Product description
This is a set of three vintage 'Marbella' stools designed by the influential Brazilian architect and designer, Sergio Rodrigues. The design is a prime example of the Brutalist movement, characterized by its robust form and honest use of raw materials. The distinctive saddle-like seat and solid construction make these stools a significant piece of Latin American design history.
The stools are constructed with a solid wood frame in a dark brown finish, supported by hand-forged iron stretchers and footrests. The ironwork features subtle etched detailing, adding a layer of artisanal craft to the rugged structure. Each stool is topped with a unique, removable seat pad made from fleece or sheepskin in varying shades of brown and beige, accented with red trim and orange tassels.
This set is in good vintage condition, showing a characterful patina and signs of wear consistent with its age and history. The materials have aged gracefully, with the wood and iron retaining their structural integrity and authentic finish. The variation in the seat pads adds to the unique, collected feel of the ensemble.
With their commanding presence and textural richness, these barstools are well-suited for a kitchen island, a home bar, or as distinctive accent seating. They would integrate seamlessly into interiors with Brutalist, Rustic, or Organic Modern aesthetics, providing both function and a strong sculptural element.
