This is a beautiful new addition to the series of floating bookshelves. Thanks to the curved design, you can place books on either side that appear to be falling off! However, there is a plate at both ends, making this an illusion.

No, it is not an anti-gravity bookshelf. Umbra’s L Conceal, shown as a pair in photo 2, is the latest variation on a minimalist design that allows books to be stacked on an invisible bracket, making them appear to float on the wall. In 2005, Miron Lior, a student at the Pratt Institute, won a competition sponsored by Umbra with the simple powder-coated steel L-shaped bracket featuring a clip that holds the bottom flap of a hardcover book in place. The bottom book creates a cantilevered platform on which other books can be stacked.
The latest addition to the line, L Conceal, uses the same system, placed at both ends of a curved wooden shelf.
