Product description
A superb pair of European Brutalist ceramics, showcasing the mastery of high-fired stoneware (Grès). This set consists of one monumental vessel and one medium-sized vase, both featuring sophisticated "fat lava" and volcanic textures typical of the French studio pottery movement of the 1960s and 70s.
Object 1: Large Monumental Brutalist Vase
A commanding piece of ceramic art, notable for its impressive scale and substantial weight.
Artist/Signature: Hand-signed "L.H." on the base (attributed to the French modernist school).
Technique: High-fired stoneware (Grès) with a complex, tactile exterior mimicking weathered volcanic stone or natural rock.
Interior Detail: The interior is finished with a stunning vibrant emerald green vitreous glaze. This provides a beautiful aesthetic contrast and ensures the vase is completely waterproof.
Dimensions: Height: 30.5 cm | Width: 28 cm | Depth: 22 cm.
Weight: 2219 g.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or restorations.
Object 2: Sculptural Modernist Vase
A perfect stylistic companion with a more organic, rounded form.
Artist/Signature: Incised with the mark "G." on the base (typical of French/Belgian studios like Grès de Puisaye).
Technique: Stoneware with a mottled sand-and-ochre glaze, featuring a subtle "orange peel" texture.
Dimensions: Height: 13 cm | Width: 11.5 cm | Depth: 10.5 cm.
Weight: 948 g.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition.
