Product description
Beautiful set of four vintage 'Aska' dining chairs, designed by Louis van Teeffelen and produced by the Wébé Furniture Factory in the 1960s. A distinctive design in which his preference for Scandinavian design clearly emerges, possibly with influences from the work of Arne Hovmand-Olsen.
This set comes from Vught and is directly from the original owners. The chairs were purchased in the 1960s together with a matching Milaan dining table and have since formed one complete dining set. They have always remained with the same owners and have been used with great care over the years.
In our workshop, the chairs have been carefully inspected and restored, retaining their original character. The frames are in beautiful vintage condition and have developed a rich patina over the years. Small scratches and subtle dents have been deliberately preserved; it is precisely these signs of use that give the set its charm and authenticity.
The solid teak frames have been thoroughly cleaned and refinished, bringing out the warm color of the wood beautifully again. The seats and backrests have been fitted with new foam and re-upholstered in a high-quality green wool fabric. Thanks to the wide, curved backrest and spacious seat, the chairs are also very comfortable.
What makes the Aska particularly recognizable is its characteristic frame. The front legs run in one fluid line up to the backrest and cross the rear legs halfway, creating two openwork connections that also serve as handles. Together with the brass spacer tubes at the backrest and the organic design, this gives the chair an airy, elegant appearance. Clearly influenced by Scandinavian aesthetics, but unmistakably Van Teeffelen.
