Product description
Two faces facing in opposite directions are torn apart in the center of the composition. Although a few features allow us to distinguish them, notably the shape of their noses, they are depicted in silhouette and are devoid of identity. The central tear separating the two faces is the trace of the bronze plates used by the artists to create the print. It accentuates the sense of separation already suggested by the title. Playing on questions of fullness and emptiness, these traces evoke a metaphorical rift between the two figures. This image is charged with a strong poetic dimension, as much for its symbolic expressiveness as for the essential character of its aesthetic.
About the artist : ICY (born 1985) and SOT (born 1991) grew up in Iran and now live in New York. It was in the early 2000s that the two brothers began to make a name for themselves, plastering committed stencils on the streets of Tabriz, a city in northern Iran. Their work earned them several arrests by the police and imprisonment. In 2012, the brothers emigrated to the United States, where they found a home that enabled them to develop and diversify their artistic practice. Internationally renowned artists, they have exhibited their work around the world, notably at the Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art in Munich, the Saatchi Gallery in London, and the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Calais.
