This is a hand-knotted Oriental rug, made from sustainable, natural materials. The knotting technique and diversity of patterns make this rug unique and emphasize its authentic and artisanal character.
Exceptionally well-preserved Nomad rug. Impressive runner full of stories, told through its imperfections. These irregularities are part of this runner: while traveling, this special piece was hand-knotted by the Qashqai nomads around 1960.
While traveling, these tribes knotted these rugs, using a different composition of natural ingredients for the dye bath each time. As a result, you see beautiful abrash, natural variations in color. After knotting, these rugs were sold in the largest nearby city, Shiraz. In this city, these famous Qashqai carpets were later re-knotted and given the name Shiraz. The original nomad rugs of the Qashqai tribe (or Ghasgai) remain particularly popular to this day. Just looking at this rug brings up countless stories, entirely open to personal interpretation.
