Description
This piece of furniture is an authentic American roll-top Desk, made of solid oak. It is a great classic of office furniture, particularly popular between the late 19th century and the 1930s/1940s.
Here are its main features:
The sliding curtain (cylinder): Made of thin wooden slats glued onto a flexible canvas, it slides along curved side grooves to close or open the workspace.
The centralized locking system: On most of these models, lowering and locking the main curtain activates an internal mechanism that automatically blocks access to all drawers in the side pedestals.
The compartmentalized interior: Called a 'honeycomb', the top of the Desk is full of small storage compartments, mail slots, and small drawers for organizing documents.
The retractable pull-out shelves: Just above each block of four drawers is a wooden shelf that can be pulled out to temporarily enlarge the work surface.
Pick-up in Liege (bring strong people and a suitable vehicle). It is in very good condition, sold for nothing....
