About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This figurative Sculpture depicts a hippopotamus, crafted from terracotta with a dark patina. The piece stands out for its expressive treatment of the material and its robust silhouette, capturing the animal's tranquil power. Dimensions 23x14x8cms, unsigned. Made of terracotta, the Sculpture features a textured and irregular surface, indicative of artisanal work. A dark brown patina, applied over the base terracotta, gives it depth and an appearance similar to bronze. This finish accentuates the volumes and modeling of the piece, creating plays of shadow and light on its form. The general condition of the Sculpture is good, bearing the marks of time that add to its authentic character. The patina is preserved over most of the surface, with wear that in places reveals the natural color of the terracotta, thus enriching its visual history. The piece retains its structural integrity and decorative appeal. With its raw yet naturalistic aesthetic, this Sculpture will find its place on a console, a bookshelf, or a fireplace. It harmoniously integrates into rustic, bohemian, or eclectic interiors, where it will bring a touch of originality and an organic presence.
