Richard Smeets (born in Gennep in 1955) attended the art academy in Maastricht. Since the 1980s, his work can be described as lyrical-abstract. According to him, his work is created in three phases. The basis is an experience, a memory, which the painter then materializes in paint and color. Richard Smeets rarely uses sketches, but works from the impressions he has in his memory. In his early work, we see female nudes; later, landscapes, flowers (especially roses), and abstract representations emerge. The silkscreen print you see here has a frame. The frame is not new but is perfectly presentable. W13
