Inspired by the sculpture Le Cri (The Scream) by the great artist Auguste Rodin (1840-1917).
The sculpture The Screaming Woman emerged from a scream of pure despair and a cry for help—which the artist felt was very recognizable, especially in these times.
The artist created this sculpture because she can also imagine that Mother Earth is "screaming" at this moment for loving care and peace.

After 4 years under the WIK (Income Benefits Act for Artists) in Maastricht, the Netherlands, Chantalle Smeets has been active as a professional artist for 20 years. Together with Martiene Stevens (her partner and also an artist), they manage Kunsthuis Trobar Riemst (B). Chantalle Smeets has developed a completely unique style, which is visible in her sculptures made of bronze, stone, ceramics, and wood. Her source of inspiration is nature. She also paints mostly in mixed media on canvas and panel. She has exhibited at various galleries and castles (including sculpture gardens) in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain, and her sculptures travel throughout Europe, America, and the Canary Islands.
