Product description
Rare Art Deco Brooch - Lucien Neuquelman (Schiaparelli Workshop) - Doe/Bounding Ibex in Ceramic and Brass An exceptional and rare Art Deco brooch (circa 1930) created by the renowned French ceramist Lucien Neuquelman (1909-1988), particularly celebrated for his animal motifs and prestigious collaborations with the haute couture designer Elsa Schiaparelli. This highly sought-after piece depicts a doe (or young ibex) in mid-leap, delicately holding a leafy branch in its muzzle. The brooch is distinguished by its superb mastery of mixed materials: The body: Made of ceramic covered with a magnificent green glaze featuring a network of fine, natural cracks (a typical characteristic of the period), highlighted by delicate white accents on the muzzle, belly, and tail. The ornamentation: The added armature is made of brass, forming the curved horns, the three-leafed branch, the tail, and the intricate little hooves. Signature and authenticity: The metal plate on the back is stamped "DÉPOSÉ PARIS" (Registered Paris). Important note for collectors: As is very often the case with this particular mold, the original die was poorly struck or worn away over time. It is undoubtedly the signature of L. Neuquelman, as this model of a bounding doe is well documented in his work. Period: 1930s (Art Deco) Dimensions: 5 x 5 cm Clasp: Antique system with a secure clasp, original and fully functional. Condition: Excellent condition. No chips or cracks on the ceramic; the network of cracks is an original firing effect. The brass has a beautiful patina. A true historical collector's item, ideal for enthusiasts of designer jewelry and 1930s fashion. #lucienneuquelman #neuquelman #schiaparelli #artdeco #vintagebrooch #designerjewelry #hautecouture #crackledceramics #antiquejewelry #vintagejewelry #ibexbrooch #boundingdoe #fashioncollection
