Product description
A Scandinavian design classic, this beechwood rocking chair is designed in the style of the renowned Finnish designer Ilmari Tapiovaara, who drew inspiration from traditional Finnish chairs before applying his own modern design approach to this creation. Constructed using an age-old method, the slatted backrest, lacquered black like the frame and arched glides, contrasts strikingly with the smooth, slightly rounded modern curves of the contoured seat in varnished natural wood. From 1951 to 1960, Ilmari Tapiovaara won no less than six gold medals at the Milan Triennale, more than any other designer, as well as the Good Design Award in Chicago and numerous awards in Finland.
