About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is the OGK Safari Chair, also known as the 'Saw Chair', designed by Danish furniture designer Ole Gjerløv-Knudsen in 1962. The design is a prime example of Danish modernism, where functionality, simplicity, and natural materials come together in an iconic and portable piece of furniture. The chair is made from a solid wooden frame with a light finish, combined with a seat and backrest of natural-colored canvas. The distinctive design, inspired by a traditional sawhorse, is held together by a sisal rope that acts as a tensioning element. This construction not only makes the chair stable but also easy to assemble and disassemble without tools, making it a prime example of 'knock-down' furniture. The overall condition of the chair is good, with a character that matches its age and use. The wooden frame and canvas show an authentic patina that reflects the object's history. The construction is fully functional and retains the original design intention. Thanks to its understated aesthetic and compact form, this lounge chair effortlessly fits into various interior styles, from Scandinavian and minimalist to a more eclectic decor. It is a comfortable and stylish addition to a living room, reading nook, or bedroom.
