Trio of enameled coffee pots from the village of Sars-Poteries. Circa 1960. The village of Sars-Poteries (Nord department) owes the second part of its name to the numerous artisan pottery factories that date back to the 18th century. In 1838, there were nine earthenware potteries, eight stoneware potteries, and a fossil ash quarry. Only small workshops (Maine, Lempereur...) making pots, jugs, vases and various containers remained in the 1970s and 1980s.
