Exceptional sculptural coffee table by the Italian artist and designer Salvino Marsura (1938–2020), model Liane.
This striking table consists of a hand-forged metal base designed by Marsura, executed as an organic composition of a tree trunk with irregularly shaped branches and roots. The metal has been manually patinated, revealing various gold, bronze, and dark color nuances and beautifully showcasing the artisanal character of the wrought ironwork.
A large oval glass top measuring 160 × 80 cm, finished with an elegant beveled edge, rests on the sculptural base. The transparent glass allows the unique construction of the base to remain fully visible.
Salvino Marsura
Salvino Marsura was an Italian sculptor, artist, and designer from Treviso. He was trained in the workshop of the renowned Italian sculptor Toni Benetton, who was known as the “poet of iron” due to his exceptional work with metal. Marsura subsequently developed a unique visual language in which sculpture, traditional Italian metalwork, and furniture design converge.
Characteristic of his work are the organic forms derived from nature. Trees, branches, roots, and other natural structures regularly recur in his sculptures, tables, and other furniture objects.
Precisely because Marsura approached his furniture in a strongly sculptural manner, pieces are situated at the intersection of Italian design and applied art. Today, his furniture pieces are offered internationally by specialized design dealers and appear with some regularity at international design and art auctions.
