Product description
Salvador Dalí (1904–1989)
Europa and the Bull — Europe et le Taureau, 1973
Original color engraving, signed in pencil and numbered XXVI/L.
From the series Les Amours célèbres (Famous Loves), this original engraving by Salvador Dalí revisits the famous mythological episode of the abduction of Europa by Zeus, transformed into a bull.
In this delicate composition, Dalí blends human and animal figures with an imaginary Mediterranean landscape. The supple and nervous lines, characteristic of his surrealist universe, come alive with subtle touches of blue, ocher, and red.
The work illustrates Dalí's graphic freedom, capable of transforming a mythological narrative into a scene imbued with sensuality, movement, and metamorphoses.
