Antonio Uría Monzón was a Spanish painter, engraver,
and illustrator, recognized as the
"Grand Master of Bullfighting Ceremonies." Having
worked primarily in France (particularly
in the Basque Country), his work is highly
sought after for its energetic representation
and his mastery of drawing on the theme of
bullfighting.
The work reproduces a sketch-style drawing in
sanguine.
The support is thick paper (Canson type
or textured art paper).
The artist's name ("Uria Monzón")
is clearly visible in the artwork (in the
plate).
