Rudolf Horn is considered the design guru and most important furniture designer of the GDR. He is the creator of the renowned furniture program Deutsche Werkstätten (MDW) Dresden-Hellerau.
The interior designer, who also taught for many years as a professor at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle, brought a touch of flair to the homes of real existing socialism and beyond with his creative ideas. His lounge furniture was exclusively exported to the West or found its way into prestigious buildings and the homes of high-ranking citizens. Even today, Horn's furniture can be found in numerous German homes. Horn designed furnishings for life...of the highest quality...

The photos are overexposed to show the pristine condition in detail! The shine or grayish areas in the photos are due to lighting and reflections; in reality, the leather is satin-matte and deep black.

Condition:
This lounge sofa is in impeccable and unique condition, both technically and visually. It has been meticulously restored by a professional restorer. The leather has been regenerated, recolored, sealed, and conditioned. It has no stains, scratches, tears, or holes, is completely odorless, and has a beautifully soft feel. Apart from the slight creases in the leather in the seat area, typical for casual upholstery (down or down-like substitutes are used here instead of foam), it looks brand new. The cushions are nicely plump and not at all saggy. The upholstery is flawless. The beautiful chrome legs also look like new and lack the often-seen nicks and scratches. We also replaced the underside fabric.
Once again, it will be extremely difficult to find a sofa in better condition; it is likely the best available worldwide.
