Organically shaped bowl designed by Bode Willumsen and manufactured by Royal Copenhagen in the late 1940s or early 50s. The stoneware piece is completed in earthy Sung and Crystaline Glazes, and is signed and stamped on its base. There is a chip on the inner rim, two small chips on the base and some imperfections to the glaze. All can be seen in the pictures. These signs of use are reflected by the price. Bode Willumsen (1895-1987) was a Danish ceramicist famed for a style of stoneware that combined East Asian aesthetics with Danish modernism and distinct glazing techniques. He worked for Royal Copenhagen before founding his own studio and had pieces commissioned by the King.
