The Massive Bug Eye is a striking eye-catcher from the Space Age era of the 1960s and 1970s. The plastic shade, strongly reminiscent of a futuristic spaceship, makes this lamp a unique piece of design history.
The design is often wrongly attributed to the renowned designer Luigi Colani. Although the organic and spatial forms of his work—ranging from cars to televisions and household objects—show clear similarities, the Bug Eye is not part of his official oeuvre.
The lamp is in very good condition. The exterior of the shade is polished, but some very light scratches are still visible from the inside. Otherwise, it is a beautiful piece that deserves a prominent place in someone's home!
